Assam: Rehab Center Closed Following Murder Case

GUWAHATI: According to rumours that surfaced on Tuesday following a murder occurrence, a rehabilitation centre in Guwahati's Hatigaon neighbourhood was given the go-ahead to close. Sources claim that the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment issued the directive to close the rehabilitation facility.

After a horrible murder that happened at the treatment facility, the decision to shut down was made. The rehabilitation facility where the murder occurred has been named Miracle Foundation. Kaushik Kalita and Bharadwaj Baishya were the centre's administrators.

Notably, a young man by the name of Aminul Hussain killed another young person yesterday at the centre itself. Hussain was detained by Hatigaon Police that same day in the evening after the entire episode was recorded on CCTV. The cops also managed to find the treatment centre's proprietors.

According to recent statements made by the new DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh, the state police would rely on thorough forensic examination, investigation, and prosecution to fight crime. Singh gave his maiden press conference as the new director general of police for the northeastern state of Assam here, where he took over for the departing DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.

Good forensics (scrutiny), prosecution, and investigation are the three most crucial foundations of action against crime and offenders, according to Singh, who, before taking on his new role, served as the Special DGP (law and order).

In response to a question on whether the Assam Police had gained morale following the recent Gauhati High Court ruling, which cleared the police in a PIL regarding the high number of encounters in the state since Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took office in May 2021, he said, "Yes."

"To keep people secure, Assam Police shall employ all legal means at their disposal to combat crime and criminals. Police must employ a wide range of measures to combat criminals and crime, according to Singh.
