Assam Rifles conducts physical fitness trials in Silchar

Silchar: 37 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 sectors AR/IGAR East conducted physical fitness trials of scouting of talent for the students of class VI to IX for sports authority of India under ‘Khelo India’. The trials were attended by a total number of 71 students, 68 boys, and 3 girls, along with their parents. The students came from different communities and tribes. This initiative of Assam Rifles has come in for high praise from the civil society of the bordering subdivision of Lakhipur of Cachar with Manipur.

After the physical fitness test, Assam Rifles on Sunday conducted the selection of students for class VI in their public schools under the sponsorship of the North East Council at Silchar. The syllabus for the entrance examination was the syllabus of class VI. In all 8 students from Assam, 3 from general and 5 from reserve categories will be selected purely on the basis of merit. Free boarding, messing and sports activity facilities will be provided. The rigorous physical fitness and merit tests have definitely exposed the students of these remote areas to novel and enriching experiences, admitted Ghurni Singh, a well-known journalist of Lakhipur.
