Silchar: An Assam Rifles jawan killed his daughter and wife by slitting their throats at the paramilitary force's camp located at Srikona here.

After conducting an initial investigation, the police apprehended the jawan identified as havildar Ravinder Kumar who, a resident of Aknoor in Jammu and Kashmir.

The victims have been identified as Monika (30) and Riddhi Badgal (11).

As per reports, a jawan went to the quarters of Ravinder in the morning and got no response despite knocking the door repeatedly. He noticed that the front door was open and he entered the house where he discovered bodies of Ravinder's wife and daughter lying in pool of blood.

The soldier immediately inform the higher officials of the camp about the incident.

Police have also recovered a blood-stained knife from the bathroom of the quarter.

Earlier in March this year, a police constable allegedly shot dead his wife with his service pistol in Dibrugarh district of Assam.

The incident took place on Sunday 13 March as informed by sources and the deceased woman has been identified as Jayshree Chetia.

The cop who shot his wife has been identified as Biki Chetia is a resident of Assam's Sivasagar deployed in Dibrugarh police.

According to reports, Jayshree sustained severe injuries after her husband brutally attacked her with his revolver following which she was admitted to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) where she was declared dead by doctors.

The Dibrugarh police arrested the accused Biki Chetia following the murder case of his wife and his alleged involvement.
