At around 2 AM, a group of 15-20 armed robbers, disguised as CBI officials, stormed the home of prominent local businessman Abul Hussain. The robbers, armed with firearms, threatened the family, bound them, and then proceeded to steal cash and valuables.

The stolen items included around Rs. 35 lakh in cash and jewelry valued at over Rs. 10 lakh. The gang fled the scene in the businessman’s Scorpio vehicle. However, they abandoned the vehicle 500 meters away and escaped on foot.

After their escape, the police were notified, and an investigation into the incident was launched.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, criminals broke into a car in broad daylight on Saturday in South Kamrup's Uparhali and stole Rs. 10,000 in cash.

The criminals targeted the vehicle and smashed the glass of Utpalananda Acharya's XUV 500, bearing registration number AS 01 BE 0202, according to reports.

Hailing from Xoru Tezpur, Acharya was attacked as he and his spouse were heading to the weekly market after dropping their child off at school. According to reports, cash and 20 grams of gold jewellery that had been bought for a wedding were taken by the criminals.

The incident had taken place inside the jurisdiction of the Bijoynagar Police Outpost, directly in front of the Uparhali market.
