Assam: Phensedyl, Ganja Worth Rs 30 Lakh Seized In South Salmara

MANKACHAR: In a significant operation, the South Salmara Mankachar Police team, led by Additional SP (HQ), seized 297 Phensedyl bottles and 2.055 kg of Ganja worth Rs 30 lakhs at Beparipara Launchghat Hunt. FIRs have been registered against the suspects.

In another special anti-narcotics operation, South Salmara Mankachar police arrested a drug peddler and seized drugs from his possession during a raid in Kharuabandha OP in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district on January 31.

The items seized from his possession are 2.33 grams of suspected heroin in two plastic vials, 1,400 YABA tablets contained in 7 plastic packets, 134 empty plastic vials used for drug peddling, 21 aluminum foils, and one black-colored smartphone.

Similarly, Assam Police seized 252 grams of heroin, valued at Rs 2 crore, in South Salmara Mankachar earlier on January 22, after receiving a tip-off about drugs being transported from a neighboring state.

One person was arrested, and further investigations are underway. The heroin was found stored in a local house, and authorities are working to uncover its source and distribution network.

In a separate operation, South Salmara Police Station conducted an anti-narcotics raid at Bhalughat, where they seized 995 Tramadol capsules (716 g), a Motorola phone, and two bikes. One accused was arrested, and the entire operation was carried out under videography. Legal action is underway.
