MARGHERITA: Celebrations erupted in Margherita on Saturday, December 7, as the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) Margherita branch marked the historic appointment of Rupesh Gowala, General Secretary of the ACMS Central Executive Committee, as a cabinet minister in the BJP-led Assam government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The celebrations were lively, with ACMS members bursting crackers, performing the traditional Jhumur dance, and distributing sweets. Slogans such as “ACMS Zindabad,” “Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Zindabad,” and “Rupesh Gowala Zindabad” resonated throughout the event, reflecting the community’s pride and enthusiasm.

Gautam Dhanowar, President of the ACMS Margherita branch, described the day as a moment of immense joy for the tea tribe and Adivasi communities of Assam. “This is a proud moment for our community. As the MLA of Doomdooma and a cabinet minister, Rupesh Gowala’s leadership will bring new development opportunities for us,” he said.
