Assam: Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya’s Annual Classical Function held in Morigaon

MORIGAON: Two noted classical artistes Narendra Khatanier Bargayan of Sri Sri Kamalabari Satra and Kush Mahanta, Satriya Artiste, was honoured with the title ‘Kushilav-2025’ by Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya, Morigaon in a solemn atmosphere in Morigaon on the occasion of the annual classical function ‘Kushilav-2025’ of Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya, Morigaon held at Morigaon Gandhi Bhawan Conference Hall. The programme began with a tribute to the heroic soldiers who were martyred in the successful ‘Operation Sindoor.’ Former president of Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya Dhrubeswar Deka inaugurated the programme by performing the holy lyrics of Ghosa.

Earlier, the tribute programme was moderated by Ajay Kumar Deurja, President, Cultural Branch, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Morigaon district. After the welcome address by Principal Prasanna Kumar Medhi of Shankari Sangeet Vidyalaya, Morigaon, the students of the school performed Bargeet, Ganika, and Jhumura dance. Then, the audio collection of Bargeet titled ‘Re Soi’ sung by student Shayarani Melang was launched, directed by the Principal of the school Prasanna Kumar Medhi and co-directed by Guru Tapas Bardoloi. The event was refreshed by the students of the school performing a dance composed by Utpala Hokai. The event was attended by Shikhi Kakati of Rajagaon, who won the Desh Ratna Award-2025 in Delhi.

Besides, 7 students, Maumrin Deka, Kumkum Parashar Deka, Gangotri Bora, Jigyasa Das, Abhigyan Bora, Kastubh Gogoi and Rupam Barua, who passed the HSLC and HSSLC Examination 2025 with distinction, star marks, and letter marks, were appreciated by the school. The school displayed the successful memories of Ankiya Nat, Jhumura Nat, and Satriya culture of the Gurus, Shankar and Madhav, in different parts of the state. After the vote of thanks by President of the School Management Committee Jynan Mohan Deka, the students of the school concluded the programme by performing the National Anthem and Guru Bandana. The event was attended by former secretaries of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Assam, Bakul Bora, Mantu Kr Nath, Budhendra Bardoloi, Bhadreshwar Deka, Deveshwar Goswami, and many others. The entire programme was hosted by Navanita Bordoloi.
