Tezpur: To create awareness and educate the MSMEs about the importance/methods/process of packaging in marketing, the latest packaging technology, and the Branch MSME Office, Tezpur organized a national seminar on “Packaging, Branding & Marketing” at Tezpur in association with DICC, Sonitpur & Edupur Foundation as a knowledge partner.

In the seminar, chief guest Ankur Bharali, District Commissioner, Tezpur, Sonitpur, graced the event. Participants were welcomed by Lokesh Parganiha, IEDS, Joint Director, MSME Office, Guwahati. Morgan Meston, GM-DICC, Sonitpur, outlined the seminar’s objectives. Guest of honor Gurmeet Singh, factory head, Dabur India Ltd., Tezpur, addressed the participants.

During the programme, Lokesh Parganiha, IEDS, Joint Director, MSME Office, Guwahati, said that marketing, a strategic tool for business development, is critical for the growth and survival of MSMEs. Due to the lack of information, scarcity of resources, and unorganized ways of selling/marketing, the MSME sector often faces problems in exploring new markets and retaining the existing ones. Keeping in view these facts, the Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme has been introduced to enhance the marketability of products and services in the MSME sector.

The key presentations included by Dr. Tabli Ghosh, assistant professor in the Food & Technology Department at Tezpur University, about the general aspect of packaging, its importance, Ritu Raj Phukan, Founder, Pencil Design Studio, Guwahati, about the branding & design aspect of packaging; Ashis Kumar Padhi, IEDS, Br. MSME-DFO, Tezpur, about DC (MSME) schemes; and Amit Raj Konwar, Director, Edupur Employment Services Pvt Ltd, Tezpur, about marketing.
