Assam: Senior Journalist Pawan Dutta Passes Away

DOOMDOOMA: Senior journalist of Doomdooma region Pawan Dutta passed away. He was instrumental in setting up the Doomdooma Press Club. He was later elected the president and general secretary of the Doomdooma Press Club. He was also the former President of the Tinsukia district press club.

Apart from being a journalist, he also retired as the Hindi Teacher at the Hunlal Higher Secondary School in Doomdooma of Assam. He was also part of the NCC initiative and received a President’s award for the same. He retired with the rank of Major from the NCC.

Pawan Dutta has left behind his son, daughter-in-law and married daughters on his demise. He was 67 years old at the time of his passing.

Recently, under the auspices of Assam Government’s Cultural Affairs Department and with the active cooperation of the Tinsukia district administration, a two-day Bishnu Prasad Rabha Memorial Day was celebrated at Doomdooma on Monday. The tribute-paying ceremony which was inaugurated by chairperson Kanta Bhattacharya at Doomdooma Municipal Board (DMB) was attended by prominent citizens Arjun Barua, Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSXX) president Bimala Barua, secretary Deben Deka, journalist Dhiren Deka, vice-chairman, DMB Moni Dutta, ward commissioners, cultural activist Nayan Deka and others. The vehicle proceeded to Saraswati Girls School, Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya, Hoonlal Higher Secondary School, Doomdooma Girls Higher Secondary School, Rammohan Pathshala and Shishu Vidya Mandir respectively.
