LAKHIMPUR: The people under Kadam Revenue Circle have strongly opposed the move initiated by the Government of Assam to shift the circle office concerned from Boginadi. The people of the larger area have found it difficult to accept the move simply as the office concerned is the hub of the administrative activities at Boginadi.
Regarding the issue, the Boginadi regional unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) expressed vehement resentment and strong reaction. In this connection, Boginadi regional AASU president Bibek Hazarika, general secretary Pranjal Saikia and North Lakhimpur subdivisional AASU finance secretary Mohan Chutia, in a press communique, said that the Kadam Revenue Circle Office has played a crucial role in the development of economic infrastructure in Boginadi area. “The existence of the office at Boginadi has benefitted the poor section of the society by various ways. Under such circumstances, the shifting of the office will deprive them of those benefits”, the press communique said.
Boginadi AASU demanded the Government of Assam and Lakhimpur district administration not to shift the office from Boginadi to any other place. “AASU will initiate intensified protest in association with local people unless the move concerned is withdrawn,” the president and the general secretary of Boginadi regional AASU added.
