SIVASAGAR: In observance of Safer Internet Day, Sivasagar District Administration, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Sivasagar District Unit under the ISEA Project, organized a cyber awareness workshop at the District Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday. The event was held under the global theme ‘Together for a Better Internet.’
Addressing the gathering, Geetalee Dowarah, Additional District Commissioner (e-Gov), Sivasagar, emphasized the importance of responsible internet usage, especially in government offices. She highlighted the potential risks of cyber negligence, which could compromise entire office systems, and urged employees to strictly adhere to cyber security protocols.
The workshop featured informative presentations by Jagadish Buragohain, DIO, NIC Sivasagar, Rezowan Ul Roshid, District Manager, DITEC, Sivasagar, and Chiranjeev Rajkhowa, DRM iRAD, Sivasagar. Through an engaging PowerPoint session, participants were educated on common cyber threats and their impact, cyber hygiene practices to minimize risks, human errors that lead to security breaches, best practices for a safer online experience, and reporting mechanisms for cybercrime.
The event witnessed active participation from officials across various departments, including Nibir Boruah, Treasury Officer, Sivasagar, Bikash Kumar Gogoi, Finance & Accounts Officer, Sivasagar, members of the Sivasagar Bar Association, Tarani Sangha, and other line departments. Their involvement underscored the collective commitment to fostering a safer digital environment.
