Assam: Sivasagar gears up for Electoral Roll Revision

SIVASAGAR: With a view to ensure transparent and efficient electoral processes in the district ahead of the next phase of electoral roll updates, a comprehensive training programme for booth-level officers (BLOs) and observers from all three Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) in Sivasagar district, namely 95-Demow, 96-Sivasagar, and 97-Nazira, was held on Thursday at Sibsagar University under the supervision of the Election Officer.

The training focused on procedural aspects related to the upcoming Electoral Roll Revision. District-level and constituency-level master trainers imparted structured instruction to the participants.

The inaugural session was graced by District Development Commissioner Samiran Bora, Acting Election Officer Subhajit Khound, and Dr Prafulla Kalita, Registrar of Sibsagar University.

Key topics covered included the correction of the electoral roll, door-to-door verification of voter data, proper documentation for inclusion, and handling common challenges faced during the revision process. The training also detailed the roles and responsibilities of booth-level officers and observers during the pre-poll period and on polling day. To ensure the effectiveness of the training, a special assessment was also conducted to evaluate participants' understanding and preparedness.
