GUWAHATI : Following a major breakthrough by the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles , on Wednesday, Assam police got hands on six hand-made bombs in Assam's Sonitpur district. The bombs were recovered in Dhekiajuli area from under a bridge.

The recovery was made on the basis of a prior information released by the army intelligence about some explosive kept hidden in Sirajuli area. Officials of Dhekiajuli Police station, initiated the search operation and seized six hand made explosives under a bridge.

S Manta, the Sub-Inspector of Dhekiajuli police department stated, the team conducted the mission on basis of an input shared by army intelligence. However, an investigation regarding the matter is on process.

Officials suspected the hands of militants behind planting these bombs. It is worth mentioning here that, one cadre of ULFA (I) from Noglo village of Lazu circle, was apprehended by personnels of Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles in collaboration with Tirap police.

The arrest was made on 21st of December, 2022. The nabbed ULFA (I) cadre has been identified as Biju Bagti alias Priobrat Asom, a Self Styled Sergeant Major, hailing from Dibrugarh.

He was an active cadre member of ULFA (I) from Hachi camp in Myanmar. As per the reports, the individual was on his way to collect an extortion amount from members of ULFA (I) when Security Forces recognised a suspected movement from Indo-Myanmar Border towards Noglo village.

He failed to escape while challenged by the Force. Later, a search operation was initiated immediately in that area by a joint team and nabbed the cadre from a jhum hut.

This is reportedly the forth arrest in 2022, from that particular area by the Security Forces. Consequently, the latest arrest is a major blow to the band group, carrying out all sort of anti national activities.
