
DHUBRI: Bondihana police have apprehended a social media journalist, Raju Ahmed, also known as Sabur Uddin, for allegedly spreading misinformation about a leaked examination paper at Jaruar Char Public High School, Dhubri, Assam. Ahmed, was arrested following a formal complaint from the school administration, which reported that his claims had caused unnecessary panic and disruption.
A controversy broke out over a rumored leak of the general mathematics question paper, but authorities later said the news was false. In response, the Dhubri Education Department filed an FIR against some satellite media outlets for spreading the false claims.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of responsible journalism, urging media professionals to conduct thorough fact-checking before publishing reports, especially during crucial examination periods. The investigation remains ongoing, with officials determined to hold accountable all individuals involved in spreading the misleading information.
Meanwhile, a fake Higher Secondary Chemistry question paper has been circulating on social media, creating confusion among students.
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu spoke about the issue on X, calling the document "FAKE" and shared a picture of the false paper. He assured students that the real Chemistry exam paper for today would not be pink and asked everyone to ignore the false information.
Minister Pegu assured that the exam process is secure and advised students to focus on their studies using official sources.
