DIBRUGARH: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal continued his high-spirited campaign for the NDA candidates contesting in the forthcoming Panchayat election. Sonowal addressed election campaign meetings at Nagapathat in Margherita, and at Dikom Karam Bhawan, and Manohari Tea Estate Ground in Dibrugarh.
Addressing a poll rally, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal criticized the Congress and said, “Congress has vanished from people’s hearts, it has lost its spot in people’s imagination and is inconsiderate in their minds. During Congress rule of nearly six decades, the poor suffered terribly lacking food, shelter, and basic dignity. Their schemes were mere hogwash and designed to loot the public money which their leaders did with absolute impunity. It was never about empowering the people, which was far from Congress’s consideration ever, but their only idea was about glorifying individuals and maintaining power. The weaker sections of society were left helpless, and the nation’s governance machinery was crippled under mismanagement, corruption, inefficiency and nepotism of Congress.” Highlighting the role of good governance delivered by the Narendra Modi government, the Dibrugarh LSC MP, Sarbananda Sonowal, said, “Since 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has led a transformation through honest, transparent, and accountable governance — the very essence of what is popularly known as good governance. With zero tolerance for corruption, the Modi government has rebuilt the administrative system to serve the people, ensuring distribution of the fruits of welfare schemes reach people on ground. Today, every poor family — both in urban and rural areas — has access to permanent housing, clean drinking water, electricity, toilets, and affordable healthcare to lead a life of dignity. This is not just good governance — it is social justice in action, empowering millions and elevating India to the world’s fifth-largest economy.
With your support, the BJP-led NDA will continue to power this transformation as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji as we continue our committed, historic, & uninterrupted journey to make Viksit Bharat.”
On Panchayati Raj system’s strong role in country’s democratic ethos, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “BJP’s commitment to rural empowerment is at the heart of Prime Minister Modi ji’s vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat, beginning from our villages up to the last human settlement of India. Unlike Congress, whose decades of rule delivered only empty slogans and unfinished promises, BJP has transformed lives through housing, electricity, roads, and more.
In Assam, all-weather roads in tea gardens stand as proof. With strong panchayats, Assam grows stronger, so does India — and the people’s trust in BJP-led progress continues to deepen.”
