Assam: Special committee formed to monitor health of COVID-19 positive Tarun Gogoi

Guwahati: A special committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Jogesh Sarma, HOD, Pulmonary Medicine Department of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has been constituted to monitor the health status of COVID-19 infected former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. The total strength of this committee is 9.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Assam's current health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote in a tweet, "A committee under the chairmanship of Dr Jogesh Sarma, HOD, Pulmonary Medicine Department of GMCH has been constituted to monitor the health status of Sri Tarun Gogoi, former Chief Minister of Assam. He was tested positive for #COVID19 and is presently admitted at GMCH."

Tarun Gogoi was admitted to the GMCH on Wednesday evening after testing positive for the Covid-19. Earlier in the day, the 85-year-old revealed on Twitter that he had tested positive for the dreaded virus and urged people who had come in contact with him over the past few days to get tested.

"I have been tested Covid 19 positive yesterday. People who came in contact with me during last few days they should go for Covid test immediately," the Congress veteran wrote in the tweet.
