Assam: STF Achieves Success With 150 Operations Leading To Major Drug Seizures And Arrests

GUWAHATI: Assam's Special Task Force has recorded a landmark success as it has successfully executed 150 operations across the state since March 2023.

Director General of Police G.P. Singh, IPS, congratulated the STF for its outstanding performance in achieving significant recoveries and lauded them for arresting more than 230 individuals involved in serious criminal activities.

The STF, under the command of Inspector Kapil Pathak, has been relentlessly carrying out its operations. It has led to the seizure of large amounts of illegal substances and commodities. The confiscated items include 6.5 kg of heroin, 4,000 kg of ganja, and 1 kg of methamphetamine. In addition to drugs, the STF managed to seize fake gold weighing 23.081 kg and FICN (fake Indian Currency notes) amounting to a face value of Rs. 50.41 lakh.

The dedicated efforts also resulted in the seizure of several illicit goods, such as 7 FICN printing machines, 14 TB 30 batteries meant for drones, and a rhino horn weighing 714 grams.

The vigilance of STF was not only confined to illegal substances as weapons were also confiscated. Two pistols were seized, along with 120 tablets of the SPM-PRX PLUS and 162 mobile phones.

The STF also recovered cash amounting to Rs. 8.2 lakh in addition to 31 vehicles that were used for committing various crimes.

Total arrests of people by the STF so far stands at 238, which includes 197 males and 41 women. They involved various acts of crimes committed such as distribution of counterfeit money and drugs.

The STF team comprised of Inspector Kapil Pathak, sub-Inspector Th Chinglen Singha, Head Constable Dipak Kakati, UBC Raja Singh, UBC Kashi Tamuli, WPC Dulumoni Das, WPC Karabi Das, and LNK Debojit Rabha.

DGP G. P. Singh appreciated STF for their outstanding performance as he called on the team in his chamber recently. He appreciated them for their dedication and insisted that they should continue in detecting the illegal goods and criminals with the view of apprehending all the wrongdoers.
