KOKRAJHAR: The Special Task Force of Assam has made a breakthrough in the STF PS Case No. 21/2024 with the arrest of prime accused Gazi Rahman, a resident of Bhodeyaguri in Assam's Kokrajhar district.

Rahman, aged 35, was caught by a team from the STF with the support of the Kokrajhar Police. The operation is part of a larger ongoing crackdown termed 'Operation Praghat'.

Following his arrest, authorities have emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice and are continuing their pursuit of all the individuals involved in the case.

The STF said that it is determined to sustain the momentum in its efforts to nab other suspects connected with the case under investigation. More information will be revealed as the case unfolds.

Meanwhile, on December 24, 2024, Assam's Special Task Force, along with Kokrajhar Police, busted a planned terror attack in Kokrajhar under "Operation Praghat." During the search operation carried out in connection with the STF-PS Case No. 21/2024 relating to the ABT/AQIS Terrorist Group, Abdul Zaher Sheikh and Sabbir Mirdha were the two other suspects taken into custody.

The STF seized a large cache of weapons, four handmade rifles, ammunition, IEDs, detonators, and materials for making explosives, which were meant for the attacks to be orchestrated by the arrested individuals who were linked to handlers in Bangladesh. The timely operation prevented a grave threat to national security.
