Assam: STF Nabs Three in Major ISBT Raid, Seizes Fake Gold, Cash, and Phones

GUWAHATI: In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam arrested three notorious individuals during a raid at ISBT, falling under the jurisdiction of Garchuk Police Station in Guwahati, on the evening of December 13, 2024.

Based on reliable intelligence, the raid resulted in the seizure of several incriminating items, including:

1. A biscuit-shaped counterfeit gold item weighing 742.2 grams.

2. Cash totaling ₹1,31,332.

3. Three mobile phones.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as:

Jeherul Islam, 26 years old, son of Md. Jainalabddin, hailing from 1 No. Ahmedpur, under Bihpuria Police Station in Lakhimpur district.

Rupam Das, 24 years old, son of Putu Das, residing near Katabari Kabristan under Garchuk Police Station, Kamrup (M), with a permanent address in Bhagawatipara, under Titabor Police Station, Jorhat district.

Jitendra Maurya, 28 years old, son of the late Ram Asre Maurya, hailing from Leduka, under Kotwali Police Station in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh.

Legal action has been initiated against the accused, and further investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Assam Police's Special Task Force (STF) arrested a drug peddler and recovered 239 grams of heroin in the Betkuchi area of Guwahati. The arrested individual has been identified as 45-year-old Nurul Haque from the Dholai area in the Cachar district.

As per Pranab Jyoti Goswami, CPRO of Assam Police, "Acting on intelligence input, a team of STF conducted a raid inside ISBT, Betkuchi, under Gorchuk police station on Wednesday and apprehended a drug peddler while he was trying to smuggle contraband."

Pranab Jyoti Goswami said, "During the search, the STF team recovered and seized 19 soap boxes containing heroin weighing 239.5 grams and one mobile phone from the possession of the person."
