Assam: Suicide of a School Student Triggers Sensation in Mariyani

MARIYANI: In a heartbreaking incident, a school student has recently committed suicide by hanging herself. The incident has triggered sharp sensation among the local public and parents of the victim have alleged that the actions of a teacher at her school has led to this incident.

The victim of the incident was a student of the Jungle Block High School which comes under the jurisdiction of the Mariani Police Station. The victim belonged to Class Eight of the school and committed suicide by hanging herself. After the incident, the parents of the victim as well as some of her classmates alleged that a particular teacher at the school had been physically harassing her for a long time and that the same harassment was the reason that she was forced to take her own life.

The father of the victim also mentioned that they had given a written complaint to the Head Master of the institution regarding the harassment one week before the incident. But the school administration did not take any action against the accused teacher, on the contrary, they tried to cover up the entire incident.

The victim had reportedly committed suicide in her own backyard and the family members have registered a complaint against the teacher in the police station.

Two boys including one minor were apprehended by the Birubari Police on charges of raping a minor girl on Wednesday. According to police sources, one 16-year-old boy and another 22-year-old boy named Nayan Baroi were arrested by the police after an FIR was filed in the Birubari Out Post by the victim, who is a 16-year-old girl. The victim mentioned that the accused had been engaging in such activities for a very long time, but finally, she mustered the courage to reach out to the police on Wednesday.
