DIBRUGARH: Tea tourism in Assam's Lepetkata is set to create significant opportunities for local entrepreneurship and employment, especially benefiting the tea community and nearby areas.

Spearheaded by Luxmi Tea Company, known for its focus on worker welfare and community development, this initiative aims to integrate tourism with the local economy and culture. The project seeks to uplift the community while preserving its rich heritage.

The development plan includes a variety of lifestyle options, prioritizing education, skill development, and community involvement. An institutional zone will feature schools, colleges, and training centers, while social infrastructure will include art galleries, hospitals, a convention center, and theaters. These facilities are designed to improve education, healthcare, and cultural activities, contributing to the overall growth of the region.

The project also emphasizes hospitality and eco-tourism, with luxury hotels, resorts, and wellness centers offering a relaxing experience for visitors. The eco-tourism aspect encourages sustainable travel, incorporating agricultural and aquaculture activities.

Visitors will have the chance to engage in hands-on experiences while staying in traditional, vernacular accommodations. This approach aims to promote tourism in a way that supports the environment and protects the cultural heritage of the area, ensuring that both the local community and the natural surroundings thrive.

As per reports, Sunil Munshi, Director of Luxmi Tea Co. Pvt Ltd, announced that a Rs 300 crore project will be launched in the first phase to develop the Lepetkata tea estate. As part of this initiative, a vocational training center will be established at the estate to provide skills training for local youth.
