TINSUKIA: The Doomdooma unit of Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association (ATTSA) blocked NH-37 for two hours at various points leading to complete halt in the movement of all types of transport, including passenger buses, across the district on Wednesday.

While the activists of Rupai Siding and Baghjan-Dighaltarang sub-committees, with the support of Rupai, Diamuli, Baghjan-Dighaltarang, Mankhowa, Beesakopie and Daimukhia ACMS units, blocked the NH-37 for not repairing the bridge connecting Baghjan with Doomdooma that was damaged due to movement of vehicles carrying heavy equipment to Baghjan following blowout, the ATTSA activists, in association with workers of Hilika TE, blocked the highway at Borhapjan after police failed to arrest the tea leaf thieves who were allegedly involved in the assault of night chowkidar Payul Kashyap on Monday.
