GUWAHATI: A woman's body was found floating in the Baralia River in Baharghat located in Assam's Nalbari. The deceased victim has been identified as Lahakpara teacher, Munu Lahkar.

Police are looking into the event as the circumstances surrounding the woman's death are still unknown. Authorities were alerted right after locals found the body floating in the river, according to sources. Police recovered the body from the location after arriving and started a preliminary investigation.

They are awaiting the findings of a post-mortem examination in order to ascertain the cause of death. The tragedy has shocked the neighbourhood, and many people have expressed their astonishment and sadness over Munu Lahkar's death. Many people are mourning the teacher's tragic demise as she was well-known and respected in the community.

In a related incident, a driver's body was discovered hanging from a tree on Sunday in the Chirang district of Assam. The corpse was discovered at the Garubhasha police station and has now been recognised as the car's driver. The tragedy had shocked the area.

The driver had been absent for several hours before his death was discovered, according to early investigations. Although it is now unknown if there was any sort of foul play, the police have started a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the driver's passing.
