Assam: Tezpur Organizations Pay Tribute to Victims of Pahalgam Terror Attack

TEZPUR: In a heartfelt show of solidarity, several social organizations in Tezpur gathered today to pay tribute to the victims of the recent terrorist attack at Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where several innocent tourists lost their lives.

The commemorative programme was jointly organized by Tezpur Xasetan Nagarik Mancha, Tezpur Darpan News Network, Hem Baruah Hall Durga Puja Committee, and Tulika Art. Senior Journalist Manoj Borah led the proceedings, which began with the observance of a two-minute silence in memory of the deceased.

Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp, accompanied by noted artistes Gyan Borah, Kulen Borah, and Chairperson of Tezpur Municipal Board Ramen Tamuli. Floral tributes were subsequently offered by former education minister Brindaban Goswami, veteran journalist Atanu Bhuyan, President of Sonitpur Press Club Subhash Chandra Biswas, Senior Journalist Dip Kumar Kalita, Priyanka Basfore, member of Assam State Commission for Safai Karamcharis under Social Justice department Government of Assam, and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Subhash Chandra Biswas stated, “We have organized this programme to pay homage to those who were brutally killed in the heinous attack. We strongly condemn such acts of terrorism and urge the government to ensure strict action against the perpetrators to prevent such tragedies in the future.”

The event concluded with an emotional candlelight ceremony in the evening, where participants lit candles in remembrance of the departed souls, reaffirming a collective resolve to stand united against terrorism and uphold peace.
