Assam: Three-day Akhonda Paalnaam Festival Concludes in Goalpara

Goalpara: The second annual three-day akhonda paalnaam festival organized by Madanmohan Xakha Xatra that began on Friday at Bhalukdubi Sonapur concluded on Sunday.  On the first day, Kamalakanta Das, retired teacher, inaugurated the main door while Dharma Dhawaja was unfurled by Khargeswar Nayak, retired professor. 

In several other auspicious programmes on the following days, Kirti Narayan Das, district president of Xatra Mahasabha; Dr. Subhash Barman, principal of Goalpara College; Abdur Rasid Mondal, MLA; and other dignitaries participated. 

The three-day event also witnessed the presence of invited guests from the different other Xatra, like Shyamaray Xatra, Naokata Khekapara Xatra, and Dolgoma Mahapurushiya Xatra. 

On the other hand, on Saturday, Kalyani Kangkana Das, ADC Goalpara, inaugurated the veernaam in the presence of hundreds of devotees.

Throughout the entire religious function, paalnaam by the invited popular groups from Goalpara and Bongaigaon was also performed. 

On Sunday, the programme concluded with the prescribed rituals. Ajit Kalita, president, and Nikunja Kalita, secretary of the organising committee, have expressed their gratefulness to the public for their cooperation.
