GOLAGHAT: Three women, reportedly intern doctors at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, were seriously injured in a car accident on Friday night in the Kamar Gaon area of Numaligarh, Golaghat. The women, travelling in a Volkswagen Taigun, reportedly crashed into a truck while allegedly driving at high speed under the influence of alcohol.

Police reports have indicated that the car was found with several empty bottles of liquor, which leads to speculation that the ladies might have been drunk during the occurrence. Witnesses stated that the vehicle was moving at high speed before it crashed.

The victims were immediately rescued by residents and police officers from the locality. They were immediately rushed to the Dergaon Golaghat hospital for administering medical care for their injury. It is not certain how severe the injuries are. Further reports on their current condition are awaited.

Earlier this month, a shocking incident took place near the Saror Gaon area of Golaghat in Assam where a man named Tutu Saikia was killed after being hit by a vehicle that ran him for about five kilometres. The tragic incident shocked the locals.

Local authorities have started to investigate the accident, and further information will be made known as the situation develops. The accident has created public concern over the dangers of drunk driving, especially for the young professionals.
