TINSUKIA: In a significant move, Tinsukia Police have arrested Anand Rashivasiya, a fugitive wanted for over six years in connection with multiple criminal cases, including fraud, illegal financial operations, and extortion rackets. Acting on a tip-off and following months of surveillance, police captured Rashivasiya, ending a long manhunt that had troubled the region.

The arrest has been hailed as a huge relief by the locals. According to authorities, the Tinsukia SP will soon hold a press conference to disclose further details about the arrest, his hiding methods, and the upcoming legal process. This marks a major breakthrough for law enforcement in Upper Assam.

In another similar incident, a man who had been on the run for 16 years after allegedly attacking his wife with a knife was captured in a forested area of southern Assam last year in May. The accused, identified as Noor Mohammad, was apprehended by a team from the Delhi Police Crime Branch in Assam.

The officers posed as NGO volunteers to avoid suspicion and managed to arrest him successfully. According to a senior Delhi police officer, the incident took place on the night of July 17-18, 2008.
