Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the Assam will be back to 2020 pre-COVID era days again from Tuesday.

The Assam government has already decided to lift COVID-19 restriction from tomorrow i.e February 15 onwards in view of declining COVID cases in the state.

While speaking to media over the same, the Assam Chief Minister said,'' From tomorrow, the 2020 days will return to the state. There will be no restrictions, no night curfew. 100 percent attendance is allowed in all educational institutes and elsewhere."

Meanwhile, Sarma also asked the masses to follow the three essential elements to avoid action.

''Follow these three things like wearing mask, use sanitizer, and take vaccines on time. With these steps, the situation will be under control,'' he added.

As the COVID situation shows improvement on Sunday 13 February Sarma announced that all the restrictions imposed by the government in view of COVID-19 spread will be now withdrawn from Tuesday, 15 February.

In this regard, a Standard Operating procedure (SOP) will be soon released by the state government. It is informed that the SOPs will be issued today i.e. on 14 February.

The restrictions that will be withdrawn also include curbs in traveling sector like the mandatory COVID test in airports and railways.

On Saturday 12 February, the state has seen a great dip in new COVID-19 cases as according to the bulletin released by National Health Mission (NHM), Assam had reported 172 fresh positive cases which are 95 less than the COVID cases tally on Friday 11 February.

The 172 cases as of Saturday pushed the total number to 7,23,416. However, on Sunday 13 February as per reports Assam had 79 fresh cases and the death tally decreased to 4. Meanwhile, the recovery rate in the state stood at 98.56 percent and the percentage of positivity is 0.83 percent.

As per the Union Health Ministry data on Sunday, the daily fresh COVID cases in India dipped less than 50,000 pushing the tally to 4,26,31,421.
