Assam to Launch Mobile App for Reporting Bad Road Conditions

Guwahati: The launch of an upcoming mobile application has been announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma which will help in resolving the issues of bad road conditions in the state.

This was informed to the public by the Chief Minister himself at a Facebook Live session in which he mentioned that the people will now be able to report bad condition of the road directly to the Public Works Department (PWD) with the help of the mobile application. This initiative will facilitate swift measures to be taken in order to repair roads that are in a bad condition.

For starters, the mobile application is set to be released in five major cities of Assam, namely, Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Silchar. The mobile application is set to be launched in the month of April or March of this year. The Chief Minister also revealed plans to expand the operation of the mobile application to other areas in due time.

Addressing the recent controversy of the illegal rat-hole mining in Dima Hasao district that claimed the lives of four miners while five others are still trapped, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the victims and added the families will be provided with adequate relief for their loss. He also said that those involved in the illegal mining activities in the quarry will face strict consequences.
