Assam To Upgrade 3,000 High Schools Into Senior Secondary Schools

GUWAHATI: To strengthen the education in Assam, the Chief Minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced to upgrade 3, 000 high schools into Senior Secondary Schools by 2022 under the new Nation Education Policy 2020.

CM Sarma has made this announcement on his Twitter where he has written "Strengthening education infrastructure has been a top priority for Assam Govt,".

"Under #NEP2020 3K High Schools will be upgraded to Sr Sec Schools by 2022. We'll also increase the number of Universities in Assam", Sarma wrote.

CM Sarma today laid the foundation stone for a Government Law College in Jorhat at Kaliapani.

"Strengthening education infrastructure has been a top priority for Assam Govt. Glad to have laid the foundation stone for a Government Law College, Jorhat at Kaliapani. The Rs 14.74 cr institution will be completed in 2 years. Happy to share that we shall have 9 more Law Colleges".

As the Covid-19 situation is improving in Assam, the state government will resume the physical classes for class 10th and 11th from this month. Announcing the decision, Assam education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu said that thought they are resuming the physical classes, however hostels will remain closed till further orders. He also informed that classes of 12th standard and degree course have already started in the state.
