Assam: Top Leaders To Unfurl National Flag In Republic Day Celebrations Across State

GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has announced the names of leaders who will unfurl the National Flag and lead Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2025. The official notification, signed by Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, lists ministers and officials assigned to different districts and co-district headquarters across the state.

To ensure participation from all regions, responsibilities have been given to Ministers, Chief Executive Members (CEMs) of Autonomous Councils, Deputy CEMs, and the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly.

Prominent assignments include Ranjeet Kumar Dass in Darrang, Atul Bora in Sivasagar, Keshab Mahanta in Bongaigaon and Urkhao Gwra Brahma in Chirang. Chandra Mohan Patowary will lead the celebrations in Kamrup while Ranoj Pegu and Ashok Singhal will preside over the events in Dhemaji and Nagaon, respectively.

Jogen Mohan has been assigned to co-district Mahmora, Pijush Hazarika will preside over in Sonitpur, Bimal Bora in Jorhat, Nandita Gorlosa in Barpeta, Prasanta Phukan in Tinsukia, Kaushik Rai in Cachar, Rupesh Gowala in Lakhimpur and Krishnendu Paul in Sribhumi.

Other key locations include Nalbari, where Jayanta Malla Baruah will officiate, and Golaghat where Ajanta Neog has been assigned.

Additionally, senior leaders of Autonomous Councils will also take part in the ceremonies. Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region, will oversee the celebrations in Kokrajhar, while Tuliram Ronghang, CEM of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, and Debolal Gorlosa, CEM of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, will officiate in Diphu and Haflong, respectively.

Deputy Chief Executive Members and the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly have also been given key roles. Gobinda Chandra Basumatary, Deputy CEM of the Bodoland Territorial Region, will preside in Udalguri, and Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker, will lead the ceremony in Goalpara.

In districts and sub-divisions not covered by specific nominations, the National Flag will be unfurled by the respective District Commissioners, Co-District Commissioners, or Sub-Divisional Officers.

The notification has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority and communicated to all relevant departments to ensure smooth and successful celebrations.
