Assam: Topon Kumar Gogoi Inaugurates New Canteen at Gargaon College

SIVASAGAR: Chairman and Director of Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) and former Member of Parliament, Topon Kumar Gogoi inaugurated a new college canteen of Gargaon College today. The new canteen has been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 10 lakhs sanctioned by Topon Kumar Gogoi from MPLADS fund, 2022-23. During the inauguration, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, noted academician and Principal of Gargaon College, traced the glorious history of the college from a batch of mere 72 students into a full- fledged institution providing education in three streams and PG programs in 6 subjects besides a host of vocational courses. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to former MP Topon Kumar Gogoi for his kindness and generosity in providing financial support which has enabled the construction of a new canteen in the college campus. He expressed hope that the newly constructed canteen will undoubtedly enhance the college’s infrastructure and prove to be a valuable asset for students and faculty alike. In his address, the chief guest of the programme, Topon Kumar Gogoi, expressed satisfaction over the well-designed and thoughtfully-planned canteen construction, praising the efficient utilization of the sanctioned fund. He further extended his best wishes to the college community for its overall development and improved accreditation. Additionally, Gogoi discussed various initiatives under the Assam Industrial Development Corporation that provide opportunities for young people to gain employment in industrial and commercial activities, including the allocation of land to entrepreneurs for the establishment of industrial projects.
