
BARPETA: A fatal accident took place near Kaljhar in Assam's Barpeta, and a ninth-grade student tragically lost his life. The deceased, Mehtab Khan, was only 15 years old and was a resident of Betbari Pathar village.
The accident occurred close to the Navodaya Jatiya Vidyalaya, where the student was driving his motorcycle, AS 15K 8492, to leave his younger sibling at a nearby primary school. Mehtab was hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle while on his way to Kaljhar market, resulting in his death on the spot.
After the accident, the driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away, leaving behind the wreckage. Houlī police reached the site immediately and initiated the required action to send the body of the deceased for post-mortem analysis. The police launched an inquiry to search for the vehicle involved in the accident and the following leads to nab the absconding driver. The accident has cast a pall of grief on the community as people mourn the loss of young life.
Similarly, a dramatic accident took place on Wednesday night when a car lost control and collided with a road divider on the Shraddhanjali Flyover in the Zoo Road area of Guwahati. The i20 car, moving from Zoo Road Tiniali to Ganeshguri, got severely damaged, and the driver left the spot before the police reached there.
