UMRANGSO: A worker succumbed to his injuries after falling from a building at the Dalmia Cement Factory construction site at Umrangso in Assam's Dima Hasao district. The worker who died was identified as Bisanto, a resident of Bagisadubi under Kheroni police station in West Karbi Anglong district.
After the accident, Bisanto was taken to Nagaon Hospital for treatment. He died on the way to the hospital. This incident has raised many questions about the safety measures for workers at the construction site.
This fatality follows a previous safety incident at the same location in August 2024, when six workers suffered injuries from the collapse of a tower crane. The recurrence of such accidents has brought into question the safety measures put in place at the Dalmia Cement construction sites.
In another similar incident, on January 16, three workers were killed when a coal hopper collapsed at Dalmia Cement factory in Rajgangpur, Sundergarh district, Odisha. Workers were caught under the debris of the collapsed structure, and safety issues remain unabated in company operations.
