

Guwahati: A tragic train accident occurred on the night of January 11, claiming the life of a man near the railway tracks between Kamakhya and Guwahati stations. The victim was struck by the UP 15611 train at kilometre marker 7/2-3.
Authorities estimate the deceased to be approximately 42 years old, standing 5'2" tall, with a swarthy complexion. He was dressed in a red jumper and blue pants at the time of the incident.
The body has been transferred to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital morgue, where it will be held for 72 hours to facilitate identification. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and police are working to locate the man’s family.
Officials urge anyone with information about a missing person matching this description to contact local authorities or the hospital without delay.
In a similar incident, a man lost his life after falling off the Rangia-Murkongselek Express (15895) as it approached Harmuti Railway Junction on Saturday. Despite immediate assistance, the unidentified passenger succumbed to his injuries.
Earlier this month, a road accident in Tingrai, Digboi, claimed the life of Jahabaja Hussain from Ledo when an over-speeding goods carrier (Bolero, AS23 DC 2225) crashed into a tree on NH-38 at 3 AM. Two others were injured and hospitalized.
