Assam: Training Session Held for Panchayat Election Personnel in Sonitpur District

TEZPUR: In connection with the upcoming Panchayat Election 2025 in Sonitpur district, a training session for personnel engaged in the material cell including supervisors and assistants was conducted today at the Darrang College Field Centre. The session aimed to equip all officials with the necessary guidance and protocols to effectively manage their duties during the electoral exercise.

District Commissioner Ankur Bharali addressed the trainees and urged them to sincerely discharge their duties related to material distribution and collection. He emphasized the importance of maintaining professional behaviour and a calm demeanour during the process.

The training was attended by approximately 350 material cell personnel. ADC Twahir Alam, ADC Kabita Kakati Konwar, and CDC Naduar Manash Saikia, along with other key officials, were also present at the session. Comprehensive instructions, regarding the issuance, distribution, and receipt of materials, along with diary verification, were provided to the attendees.

District Commissioner Bharali, accompanied by Election Observers Bhupesh Chandra Das and Bhaskar Das, along with Chief Executive Officer of the Sonitpur Zilla Parishad  Karabi Saikia Karan, reviewed the preparations at the Darrang College Centre. This included inspection of the 61 material distribution counters and other essential cells such as food, personnel, data management, and media.

It is to be noted that a total of 61 distribution counters have been set up at Darrang College field for all polling stations under the Barchalla, Tezpur, Rangapara, and Naduar LACs. Material distribution will take place on May 1, and polling will be held on May 2. On the day of the poll, voters will be able to exercise their franchise from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
