Assam: Truck Driver Shot During Crime Scene Reconstruction

GUWAHATI: In a dramatic turn of events during a late-night crime scene reconstruction in Assam, truck driver Abhijit Shobdokar was shot by police. Shobdokar, who had been implicated in the murder of Constable Ujjal Bora, reportedly attempted to escape, leading to the use of force by law enforcement.

Police had detained Shobdokar in connection with investigations into Bora's murder. While rehearsing the reconstruction exercise, Shobdokar allegedly grabbed one of the officers' rifles and attempted to escape. After a warning shot was fired into the air, he refused police orders. Officers then shot him in the leg by firing a second shot.

Sheelabhadra Shobdokar was immediately subdued and rushed to Silchar Medical College for necessary medical treatment. The Authorities have confirmed that a case of inquiry has been lodged wherein the investigation into the event and officials involved in it is going on properly.

Shobdokar is a key suspect behind the case where Constable Ujjal Bora lost his life in some tragic incident early this month. Bora was run over and killed by a truck in an operation at Churaibari in Assam.

The operation was supposed to intercept a suspicious vehicle allegedly carrying contraband. In the ensuing commotion, the truck as well as the police pursuing vehicle went off the road. The contents of the truck as well as the identities of the people involved are still under investigation.

Shobdokar's injury and fear have given a new dimension to the investigation. Though the authorities claim that his activities deserved the police response, the incident has opened up a debate on the protocol followed during crime reconstruction.

Meanwhile, the police are going all out to find out the complete details of Constable Bora's death and its possible nexus with smuggling in the region.
