HOJAI: Two individuals were caught by Hojai Police with three cartons containing a total of 49,248 suspected SPS Plus capsules. The capsules were recovered from their possession during an operation. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation to gather further details.
In a similar operation, team from Goalpara Police, led by OC Baguan, seized 14 vials of suspected heroin from Adom Ali at Ambari under Baguan Police Station.
As part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking, Goalpara Police conducted a search operation in Mornoi on December 26 last year, leading to the arrest of a drug peddler.
Rafiqul Islam, a suspected supplier, was found in possession of 1,450 narcotic tablets and Rs 60,710 in cash. The successful operation reinforced the authorities’ commitment to cracking down on illegal drug activities in the region.
In a separate incident, Assam Police thwarted an interstate drug smuggling attempt and apprehended three traffickers, one of whom was from violence-hit Manipur. Officials reported that the consignment was being transported from Manipur and was intended for delivery in Goalpara district. However, the police intervened in time, preventing the contraband from reaching its destination.
Acting on prior intelligence, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police tracked the movement of the narcotics in two vehicles. One of the vehicles was intercepted in front of Boko Police Station in Kamrup district, where officers discovered 30 packets of heroin concealed inside a bag.
