Assam: Two Dies On Spot After Bike Collides With Tree In Dhubri

GUWAHATI: In the Chapar district of Assam on Thursday, two people were instantly killed when their motorbike hit a tree along the side of the road. 

The tragedy occurred on Thursday midnight in the Salkocha block of Chapar town in Assam's Dhubri district, according to preliminary reports. According to sources, the accident took place when the rider of the two-wheeler lost control and slammed into a tree by the side of the road while travelling at a high rate of speed. 

The two riders, Paban Choudhury and Debajit Roy, perished at the scene as a result of the collision. After learning of the occurrence, local police responded to the scene and removed the remains. A resident who saw the incident and spoke to the media said, "A little after midnight, the disaster happened. The two fatalities were returning home after attending a Basanti Puja when the accident happened.”

As per the reports, Paban was 32 years old and Debajit was 27 years old when they passed away. Also, according to the information obtained, Debajit resided in the Gourang Nagar and Paban in the Agomani neighbourhood of the Dhubri district. The motorbike that was involved in the collision has the licence plate AS17N3158.

In the early hours of Thursday in Assam's Dhubri district, several school students were hurt in a head-on collision between an e-rickshaw and a fast moving vehicle. An e-rickshaw carrying students who were travelling to take their High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) board examinations was struck head-on by a speeding car with the registration number "AS 01E 4732" in the incident that was reported on Indira Gandhi Road. 

Together with the students, the e-rickshaw drivers also suffered critical wounds. The impact was so severe, according to eyewitnesses, that the e-rickshaw toppled and the kids were thrown from their seats. 

After the tragedy, Dhubri Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) received a surge of injured patients for treatment.
