Guwahati: In a significant operation early this morning, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police raided Room No. 13 at Maa Lodge, Last Gate, under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station, and arrested two notorious drug peddlers.
Acting on a tip-off, the STF seized a variety of items during the raid, including a soap box containing suspected heroin weighing 9.58 grams (excluding the box), 100 empty vials, Rs. 250 in cash, two mobile phones, and several personal documents, including ATM cards, an Aadhaar card, and a PAN card.
The arrested individuals were identified as Mohibul Ali, aged 24, son of the late Emran Ali, a resident of Howly, Ghilajari, PS Howly, in Barpeta district, and Nayeb Ali, aged 38, son of Md Abdul Kader Ali, from Kacharipara Sila, PS and District Barpeta, Assam.
The arrested individuals are currently undergoing necessary formalities as part of the ongoing investigation. The police have intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region and have vowed to take stringent action against drug peddlers to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
This operation is part of the Assam Police's continued commitment to combat illegal drug activities in the state and safeguard its citizens.
Yesterday, a team from the STF carried out a raid at Patorkuchi under Basistha PS and arrested an individual. During the operation, the police confiscated 82 grams of heroin, 362 empty vials, an empty soap box, cash, a mobile phone, and a vehicle.
