Assam: Two Injured In Robbery Incident In Cachar, Suspects Absconding

SILCHAR: In a shocking turn of event, two individuals sustained injuries in a robbery incident that took place at Kalain in Assam's Cachar district which left behind a trail of destruction in its wake.

The robbery unfolded at the residence of a local businessman identified as Binoy Deb. A gang of 10 robbers armed with guns stormed in at around 2 pm, looting gold ornaments and a significant amount of cash. The robbers also physically assaulted the family members during the theft.

Alerted by the harrowing ordeal, the neighbours promptly responded by attempting to intervene. The miscreants were compelled to open fire to prevent them to come to the rescue and in that process, a man was injured.

Two persons incurred injuries in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

The robbers managed to escape from the spot before the police arrived at the scene overnight. A thorough investigation has been launched to look into this case.

Meanwhile, earlier last year, a gang posing as CBI officials allegedly looted the house of a businessman in Cachar, Assam. The robbery took place in the Baga Islamabad area, located within the Dholai Legislative Assembly constituency.

At around 2 AM, a group of 15-20 armed robbers, disguised as CBI officials, stormed the home of prominent local businessman Abul Hussain. The robbers, armed with firearms, threatened the family, bound them, and then proceeded to steal cash and valuables.

The stolen items included around Rs. 35 lakh in cash and jewelry valued at over Rs. 10 lakh. The gang fled the scene in the businessman’s Scorpio vehicle. However, they abandoned the vehicle 500 meters away and escaped on foot.
