TEZPUR: In a tragic incident in Tezpur, two elderly individuals lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a wild buffalo in separate incidents across Tezpur town on Monday. The rampage began in the Jahazghat area, where a wild buffalo fatally attacked 70-year-old Dharkan Das. In another incident, Bhajan Gop (70 years), who was critically injured in a similar attack, later succumbed to his injuries at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital.

Forest officials confirmed that three others, Pradip Bhoumik (64 years), Apu Rai (35 years), and Rangili Choudhury (85 years) were also injured after being attacked in different parts of the town. The wild buffalo is currently taking shelter in the Polo Field area of Bamungaon, and forest personnel are making ongoing efforts to tranquilize and safely capture the animal.
