DHUBRI: For the past few days, there has been incessant rainfall in and around Dhubri, and during such rainy days, people could stay comfortably inside their homes, offices, or workplaces under the roof. But the petty vendors who sit on the roadsides without any roofs over their heads find it extremely difficult to sell their products.
Realising this day-to-day struggle of the roadside vendors, a young social worker of Dhubri, Deepankar Majumdar, with little resource with him, came out to mitigate the hardships of the poor street vendors and distributed a good number of large umbrellas among them on Saturday.
Speaking to The Sentinel, Dipankar Majumdar said that when he saw the suffering of these vendors, his heart wrenched inside and he started thinking about mitigating their problems with whatever little he had.
“At the end, it gives solace to my heart and self-satisfaction of doing something for those who never beg before anybody but keep struggling hard to sustain and support their families year after year,” Majumdar further added.
