Guwahati: The Assam government on Thursday issued a fresh set of Unlock guidelines with relaxations on night curfew and inter-district movement.

Inter-district movement of passenger vehicles and people, which was earlier allowed only on Mondays and Tuesdays, will now be allowed between Monday and Friday with vehicles plying with 50% capacity.

The Government's notice undersigned by Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna also mentions that the buses in which the passengers travel to their respective destinations must also adhere to the social distancing norms.

The inter-district travel was originally banned by the Government from July 22 owing to a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases.

A notification signed by the Assam State Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna read, "Only emergency service vehicles have been allowed for the inter-district movement."

However, the Assam Government allowed inter-district travel on July 30th and 31st due to the upcoming Eid-al-Adha celebrations.

In a subsequent notification, the State Government declared that the Inter-district movement of people would be allowed on Monday and Tuesday and no separate permission or approval would be required for travel within the state on these two days.

This order came into force on Sunday, 7 pm, and continues till August 14, as per the notification.
