SILCHAR: On the occasion of Maha Shivratri, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) Cachar District Committee organized a special "Amrit Snan" (holy bath) in Silchar for devotees who could not visit the sacred Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.

To provide devotees with the spiritual experience of the Maha Kumbh, the committee brought holy water from the Sangam and arranged the ritual bath at the banks of the Barak River near the Kali Temple in Gangapara, Rangpur. The event was inaugurated on Tuesday evening with a magnificent Sandhya Aarti and various religious ceremonies.

Organizers decorated the riverside venue beautifully with saffron flags, images of Lord Shiva, and attractive mandaps (pavilions), creating a festive atmosphere. VHP officials have been busy with preparations along the riverbank since the morning.

The Amrit Snan began on February 26 at 9 AM and will continue for two days. The organizers have invited everyone to participate in the ritual and purify themselves through the holy bath.

Meanwhile, devotees from across the country arrived in large numbers at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj in the early hours of Wednesday on the last 'Snan' of the Maha Kumbh, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
