
TAMULPUR: In a tragic incident, a woman laborer was killed by an excavator in Tamulpur district, Assam. The heart-wrenching accident occurred in Kumarikata, a village in the district, where an excavator engaged in digging sand for construction work accidentally dug the ground where the woman was working, killing her in the process.
According to reports, a group of laborers was working on the site, removing stones from the area being dug. The excavator was at work too. It accidentally moved over the woman. The woman's head was severed by the excavator, resulting in her immediate death.
However, the incident has been captured in a video, which has since gone viral on social media, leaving many in disbelief and horror.
Meanwhile, a campus worker at Assam University, Silchar, was arrested yesterday for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old Adivasi girl. The accused, identified as 57-year-old Farukh Ahmed, reportedly molested the minor girl inside the Law Department of Assam University on January 31.
Reports indicate that the victim, a relative of a university housekeeping staff member, was assaulted inside the department. Following her complaint, an FIR was filed at Dwarbond Police Station under the POCSO Act.
With help from university authorities, the police found and arrested the accused. Since the case is sensitive and could affect different communities, officials are keeping a close watch on the investigation.
