DHUBRI: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Nrityangan, a socio-cultural organisation, honoured five working women who had fought to become independent and self-sufficient in Dhubri town on Saturday at its training facilities.

The program’s goal was to recognise women who, in spite of adversity, had persevered in society and finally managed to stand on their own two feet, live honourable lives, and accomplish their families’ dreams and ambitions.

The women who were honoured were Moupia Chakraborty, Rakhi Das, Rima De, Milli De, and Manju Ghosh.

These women have battled to establish themselves, triumphed over difficult times, and made their families happy despite obstacles such as the absence of their husbands.

The event was attended by prominent guests, including Dhubri District Information and Public Relations Officer, Snigdha Rani Das, Indrajit Chakraborty and Dr. Pratima Niyogi, President of Nrityangan. The programme began with a speech by the president of Nrityangan, Dr. Pratima Neogi followed by other guests.

Talking to The Sentinel, founder of Nrityangan, Dipankar Majumdar said that the organisation had been felicitating the struggling women of the town for the last few years.

“This will be inspiration for other women who are struggling and we are taking pledge to support these women,” Majumdar further said.
