Assam: Wood craft training under Gramodyog Vikash Yojana held in Sootea

JAMUGURIHAT: A 20-day wood craft training programme under Gramodyog Vikash Yojana (GVY) and organized by Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), in association with local NGO Graim, began on March 26 at No. 3 Nalbari Village, Sootea. A total of 20 youths, including 14 women and 6 men of the adjoining villages of the Greater Nalbari area, participated. Craft experts from Kolkata and Guwahati have been imparting training for the learners at the programme.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 20 craft cutting modern electric machines will be provided free of cost to all the participants after completing the 20-day training, informed the programme coordinator. The NGO has arranged a fruitful market for the craft equipment that will be produced by the trainees in the days to come. Basic training on craft making from wood, bamboo, etc. has been imparted to the trainees. 

Whereas, many a times, house wives are seen busy browsing the social media sites idly and exhausting hours therein, the women and youth of the Nalbari area have opted for craft work as career option. The training programme will be completed on April 14.
