KOKRAJHAR: Two workers from the state were also among the large number of workers stuck in the tunnel that had collapsed with these people inside it. The incident took place in the month of November in the Uttarkashi district of the state of Uttarakhand. These two workers have finally returned safely to their homes in Assam, bringing tears of joy in the eyes of their family members.
These workers were stuck for seventeen days after the tunnel caved in. After several operations aimed at rescuing the people inside the tunnel, they were finally able to achieve the goal on November 28. After they were rescued from the tunnel, the administration shifted all the people to a medical facility for proper healthcare and a comprehensive checkup.
Ram Prasad Narzary and Sanjay Basumarary belonging to Ramfalbell in Kokrajhar were the two workers out of the total 41 people involved in the incident. It can be noted that they had not visited their homes for the past seven months. The family as well as the neighbours were eagerly waiting for the return of these two workers.
Putting an end to the wait, they finally arrived at home. After arrival at their home, both of them expressed their gratitude towards the administration and all agencies involved in the rescue operation. Their family members also expressed their gratitude for rescuing their family members.
The District Commissioner, local Member of the Legislative Assembly, and Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council also attended the event along with a large number of local people as well as well-wishers of the workers and their families leading to the gathering of a massive number of people at the residence of the workers to celebrate their safe return.
