GORESWAR: A two-day-long workshop on organic fertilizer production, solid waste segregation and water conservation was organized by the Assam Science Technology and Climate Change Department with the active cooperation of the Goreswar unit of the Assam Science Society and concluded on Saturday. The event was held at the auditorium of the Naokata Milan Girls High School, and the workshop was inaugurated by Asim Deka, Principal of Tamulpur Junior College.
In the conclusion ceremony, a meeting was arranged by the organizers which was presided over by Nirmal Devnath, President of the Goreswar unit of the Assam Science Society, and the purpose of the event was explained by Mukunda Kakati, secretary of the Goreswar Science Society. The meeting was attended by Central Executive Member of Assam Science Society Subhash Ranjan Das as the chief guest.
The invited guest Munindra Baruah spoke about the harmful effects of chemical pesticides and how to prepare organic pesticides. The workshop was attended by the headmaster of Magurmari Kalbari High School, Tapeshwar Kalita, as the appointed speaker.
Journalist Abdul Latif Chowdhury attended the programme and urged the teachers to play a vital role in making the students of their respective schools and the people of their neighbourhoods aware of water wastage prevention and conservation in the workshop.
Jitesh Biswas, headmaster of Naokata Milan Girls High School and science worker. Gautam Kumar, teacher of Kauli High School, and Ghanshyam Lutel, teacher of Bholajhar Higher Secondary School, were felicitated as resource persons. Certificates were also distributed to the participants in the conclusion ceremony of the workshop.
